How to Commission a Textile Artist for Hospitality Projects

Commissioning custom textile art for a hospitality project is different from buying a piece off the wall. There are timelines to coordinate, specifications to align, and a final result that needs to work architecturally — not just aesthetically. Here is what the process looks like when you work with me.

Two paths, one starting point

Every commission begins the same way: with an understanding of your space. But from there, you have two options depending on your project timeline and brief.

Working from my existing portfolio is the faster route. If a design from my portfolio fits your vision, we adapt it to your dimensions and space. Production moves quickly — typically around 5 weeks — making this the right choice for projects with tighter schedules.

A fully bespoke piece is designed from scratch around your specific architecture, atmosphere and brief. This is the right path when the project calls for something entirely site-specific. Production takes between 6 and 8 weeks depending on complexity.

Both paths result in a piece that is exclusive to your project. The difference is in the starting point, not the outcome.

What I need to quote you

For either path, getting to a quote is straightforward. I need:

  • Dimensions of the space

  • Your preferred style or aesthetic direction

  • For bespoke pieces: visual references that capture the atmosphere you are going for

That is enough for me to come back to you within 48 hours with a clear proposal.

What happens after you inquire

Once we align on concept and scope, the process moves through:

Concept development — design proposal, material selection, and confirmation of all technical details before production begins.

Production — 5 weeks for portfolio-based adaptations, 6 to 8 weeks for bespoke designs, from the moment we confirm.

Shipping & installation — I ship worldwide with full insurance. Every piece arrives with complete installation documentation so your team can execute without complications.

What makes hospitality commissions work

The projects that go smoothest have a clear brief, a realistic timeline built around production lead times, and a point of contact who can make decisions. I also provide full technical documentation with every commission — material specifications, dimensions, installation instructions, and a certificate of authenticity.

Ready to start?

Browse the portfolio and share what catches your eye, or tell me about your space and brief. Either way, I will come back to you within 48 hours.
